The 80th Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony: Fostering the Spirit of Nationalism at President School

To commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the President University Education Foundation held a Flag Ceremony on Saturday, August 17, 2025, at the President University Field, Jababeka.
The ceremony was attended by all educational units under the foundation, including President School for National Character (PSNC), President Kindergarten, President Elementary School, President Junior High School, President Senior High School, and President University, along with representatives from Jababeka Group.
Pride and Honor in the Moment of Independence

Serving as the ceremony inspector, Mr. Sumardi, Director of President School, delivered an inspiring message about the importance of upholding the spirit of Indonesia’s heroes through discipline, responsibility, and a strong passion for learning.
He emphasized that independence is not only the result of past struggles but also a responsibility of the young generation to keep contributing and embodying the values of patriotism in everyday life.
Meanwhile, the ceremony commander was a student from President Senior High School, who led the ceremony with confidence and deep respect for the Indonesian flag.

One of the proudest moments came from President Elementary School students, who performed as part of the Marching Band team, accompanying the national and patriotic songs throughout the ceremony.
In addition, all Grade 1 to 6 students attended the ceremony with discipline and enthusiasm. Their participation represented the school’s ongoing commitment to instilling national and patriotic values from an early age.
Through this activity, students learned that independence is not merely a celebration but also a reminder of struggle, unity, and love for the nation.
Instilling the Values of Nationalism from an Early Age
For President Elementary School, the flag ceremony is not just an annual routine but an essential part of character development. It instills discipline, responsibility, and respect for national symbols.
With this year’s theme, “Rise Together for an Advanced Indonesia”, the entire President School community remains committed to nurturing the spirit of nationalism and patriotism in every student’s heart.
Through events like this, President Elementary School aims to shape young generations who are not only academically excellent but also deeply patriotic and ready to become the nation’s future leaders.
🎤 Special Musical Performance by SD President Students
Following the ceremony, the audience was treated to a delightful performance by two talented students from SD President — Davina (Grade 4B) and Kaivan (Grade 1A) — who sang Indonesian national songs with pride and enthusiasm. Their heartfelt performance received warm applause, symbolizing how the spirit of independence can flourish even in young hearts. With confidence and joy, Davina and Kaivan showed that loving Indonesia can begin with something as simple and beautiful as singing together in the spirit of freedom.
